This thread only includes the jam purported to be from this session and has only been circulated in MP3.
NOTE: this may not be an exact copy of the original MP3, but it sounds identical in quality.

Its authenticity had been open to debate, but an uncannily similar jam opened the show on December 4th, 1991 with Grohl on guitar and doing some vocals such as "you should have what you want."

The Retards, April 1991
Melvin's practice space and Crover residence, San Francisco, CA, US

Band members: Kurt Cobain (guitar, vocals), Dave Grohl (bass), Dale Crover (drums)
Engineer: Debbi Shane [I don't think she has mentioned anything regarding this jam yet]

Set:
[O] Drain You [not included in this upload]
[U] Unknown Retards Jam

Source: was at one point referred to as SBD #1c
Runtime: 0:01:51 [I've also seen the runtime listed as 0:01:58 elsewhere, but I doubt its accuracy.]
Size: 2.56 MB
Bit Rate: 192 kbps
Sample Rate: 44.100 kHz

DOWNLOAD: Mediafire

Thanks.

FYI: It used to be that SBD #1a was the bootleg Dressed for Success and SBD #1b was WTLO, explaining a reference for this to become SBD #1c. It was found out later that WTLO was actually inferior to the bootleg, so now LN only lists SBD #1 with no a/b.

DISCLAIMER: I just want to be clear. I'm not 100% sure this is a raw copy of the original leak. Because of this, I have apprehensions about distributing this particular copy. I know when I updated my MP3 collection I made sure I had the best sound quality, so I'm comfortable with others hearing this for reference purposes only.

One day we'll have a real copy of the original leak to compare.

I've had the live track labeled as Unknown Retards Jam (Live 12/4/91) for quite awhile now.
That information is readily available in the Nirvana Live Guide.

Newsflash...at this same show they played the only true live rendition we have of New Wave Polly.
The studio version was recorded less than a month prior.

They even ended the show with the unknown jam they did for the radio session in Hilversum, NL.

Anyway, I guess having a live version of the Retards jam (that has Dave singing) pretty much seals the deal that the MP3 jam we have is, beyond a reasonable doubt, a Retards recording.

This show (12/04/91) was one of my favorites I have bought at least two bootlegs of this show,
its weird though that no one asked Craig Montgomery on LN if he did have a SBD recording since NLG states that the Shonen Knife show was recorded in SBD

Hey Jason,
Do you remember how you obtained it and if it came with some sort of info.txt

I likely downloaded here on SoD, as there was a post that contained SBD #1a+b+c which was probably uploaded using Rapidfail--rendering the original links useless. As stated earlier, this is a MP3 copy of the Retards jam and I can't say for sure that it is the same length as the original leak or if it has been through any conversion.

If I had an info.txt, we wouldn't have all this speculation.
