*Sigh*. They don't even sound that much alike. The chords are different, and the "comparisement" between the verses of the 2 songs is just a joke, they are nothing like each other. If that song sounds like SLTS I must be deaf. Just because it has an intro that is also strummed in a slightly similiar way (not even that much alike either) doesn't mean they are stealing SLTS.

Haha, I find this thread to be very amusing. I can see some similarities, but keep in mind that we're talking about the early '90s. Power chords and dynamic changes were popular at the time!!! Be upset at Nirvana for ripping off Louie, Louie, or More Than a Feeling or the Pixies lol. Or be mad at Offpsring for selling out their punk rock roots like Green Day did. Or just sit down and listen to the CD cause it's pretty good if you're into fun pop punk. It's rock and roll. Everybody rips off everybody else. Classic rock was unique because people weren't afraid to experiment and most of it was heavily based off of blues. The mainstream realized how much money they could make by sticking to a "formula that works" and by not taking chances on experimenting anymore. Guarantee you if the Beatles were around in today's world, nobody would even know them. The songs would be equally as awesome, but the record companies would suck even more. Not to mention now we have MTV (moron TV).
Illiteracy Will Prevail
I heard this song for about 2 years and I said: fuck you! stealing the most famous song intro and mean that nobody will check it is bitchi!
Unknown Slut :)
F*ck Nirvana !
They Steal
Extempore
The ironic thing about this thread is that 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', which 'Self Esteem' supposedly "ripped off", is a rip-off! laugh.gif

And punkgod94 pretty much summed it up in his post, so I have nothing more to say. sleep.gif
punkgod94
That's the spirit!!! Haha. Let's all revolt against Nirvana now!!! In all seriousness though, you can't blame Offpsring for being so heavily influenced by one of the most influential bands of their time Somewhere in my massive CD collection I have a live version of them covering Territorial Pissings. And for the record the Pixies rock, and so does Louie, Louie, and More than a Feeling lol.
glen
hold on a minute,

if u lot have only jus noticed

whats more copying than nirvana ripping off the pixies or husker du

anyway i like the offspring (pre '96), self esteem is a good song

anyway there were a lot more bands ripping off nirvana aswell as the "grunge scene" back in 1994
at least they didnt attempt to sing like kurt

*Also
the "laaaaalaaaaalalaa" was a dig at all the "woe is me" (depressing grunge bands) at the time
in my eyes it was a dig at alice in chains "man in the box"

F*ck Nirvana !
They Steal
+1

God damnit, hasn't anyone heard Green Day's cover of Rape Me?
*sigh* if i find the song file, i'll upload it, its available at GDC.

I'm not saying The Offspring covered Nirvana though.
What I am saying is this thread is kind of pointless because i noticed
a lot of similarities between the offspring and nirvana when i first
heard their smash album.

But otherwise nothing sounds the same, two different bands,
if the offspring did anything bad then Grohl and Novoselic would have
already sued.
Electric.Power
wanna know listen stay away by nirvana and hammerhead byt the offspring! and say they steal!

Heh, it didn't even take me 5 minutes to find it, and it was already uploaded tongue.gif

by the way it was only a jam, but still cool in my opinion!
needles and pins
A lot of rip offs already exist... Nirvana was among the group
I don't really care about songs that sound alike tongue.gif
